Episode 9: Revelations Part 3: Apocalypse (fin)

SPOILERS AHEAD

SYNOPSIS:

Jetstorm retreats with BA's freshly stolen spark in an extraction
device.  Thrust drives away with the body.

Nightscream manages to nab the device and defeats Thrust for the body.
Meanwhile, BlackArachnia meets Primal in his Trance state.
BA is frantic and her spark flies wildly as Nightscream chases it.
Primal calms her down long enough for her spark to settle back
into her body.

Still in trance, Primal finds Rhinox "trapped".  But Rhinox reveals
that "Megatron isn't the problem, you are", pointing accusingly at
Primal.  Looks like Rhinox is sold on this technological purity.

Cheetor and Rattrap manage to awaken Rhinox from Tankorr's body
but also find Rhinox is convinced (or corrupted) of Megatron's cause.
Evidently, he's been watching the whole time awaiting a time to
usurp control of Tankorr.

Primal listens to the Matrix and finds out that Cybertron used to
be like earth.

So now the lines are drawn about Cybertron's destiny.
The Maximals will strive to restore Cybertron to it's "natural"
organic state.  The Vehicons are striving to rid Cybertron of
all traces of carbon-based life.


DESIGN NOTES:

Keep it coming!  Good job to Mainframe for packing a lot of plot
and action into a 3-arc mini-series.

I guess we'll have to wait a while because Nascar: The Movie might
be replacing a good chunk of the morning FOX Kids line-up.
I hope FOX Kids sorts this all out and returns "Big Guy" to
Saturday.  Or did they get shifted to weekdays?

Seeing the Beast Wars characters reminds me of how much the CGI
characters have improved in Beast Machines.

I guess there is only 4 more shows to this entire season.
The Beast Machines saga is to span two 13-episode seasons for a total
of a 26-episode complete arc.


IMPRESSIONS:

Well if people got upset about Rattrap's "mischaracterization" when
he turned to Megatron for help.  Rhinox seems to be sold out to
Megatron's cause, period!

At BotCon '99, the reps told us the battle lines will not be as
black and white and more philisophical.  This has been blown wide-open
with the "Revelations" in this mini-series.

I admit, it's easy to tell the "good guys" from the "bad guys" in
Beast Wars since one side is bent on plundering and conquering,
the other side fights for freedom.

Now, we've got two different ideals of what Cybertron should be.
Purely mechanical or purely organic (as it used to be - evidently)
While people tend to think of "restoring _back_ to a _natural_ state"
as a good thing, Transformer fans would easily favor a MECHANICAL
Cybertron.  I think our "G1-only fans" will be enlisting in the
Vehicon ranks volentarily.

But can ya blame them?  If you believe in the comic's origin of
Cybertron (both: silicon-based evolution or Primus' inhabiation)
or the cartoon's (a Quint factory planet), either way, you'll have
to admit robotic life on a robotic planet is a wonderful concept.
To return it to an organic state would eradicate the UNIQUENESS of
the Transformer's homeworld.

Oh, get this though!
If we have an organic Cybertron, maybe the citizens will also be
organic.  Of course they could still transform.  Whammo!  You have
a planet of ANIMORPHS!
