Beast Wars Neo UNICRON
At the end of Beast Wars Neo, the Maximals were to encounter the last boss - Unicron! However, for whatever reasons, Takara decided to NOT produce this prototype as a toy.
Instead, they will most likely re-color Transmetal 2 Dragon Megatron to be Unicron.
But Takara featured this prototype at a toy show in Japan. The fan response from Japan then America was so overwhelming, Takara put a disclaimer on their home page denying production of Unicron and "so don't bug us anymore about it".
There is a comment about the Takara Unicron on the
Hasbro Collectors
web page. Again, fan response has been felt and appreciated.
Recent news (19-Oct-99) from
Cool Japanese Toys
reports that Takara will move to get the toy to the fans somehow. They will probably
release a model kit of the toy. Probably molded in only one color (if at all).
Perhaps Takara is listening. Keep bugging them!
Editorial note: Some might say "It doesn't look like Unicron from TM:The Movie". Well, that body was destroyed, this is Unicron's Beast Wars incarnation. Now, I have no idea how he survived...
Wishful thinking: We've seen Unicron's visage, a rebuilt Ravage, and the ghost of Starscream. Perhaps Takara will re-issue the original Starscream! There is already a rumor that Takara my re-issue an old Optimus Prime.
