Brief Intro FRIDAY SATURDAY | SUNDAY MONDAY |

Finally finished packing about 12:30am. I had already reserved a shuttle to get
back to the airport. My United flight was to take off 5:50am but the first shuttle
didn't leave until 5:00am. This left little "fidget" time. I woke up at 4:30 and
made sure everything was ready to go. I got down there to see about 8 people ready
to take the shuttle. Later, when the van driver came, he took off and got the bus
instead. Even then, we had to leave some people including my flight crew!
Actually, leaving my flight crew allowed me more time to check in and board.
We arrived at the airport in good time. I think the people made it to their flights. But right off the bat, United gave me the bad news that my O'hare-to-Boise flight had already been cancelled. Well, I wilted in defeat. Instead of a guaranteed 4 hour delay. I'd only get in 2 hours late. I'd have to quickly make it to O'hare and depart to SF. From SF, I could catch a flight back to Idaho.
Fortunately, they softened the blow by giving me a $100 coupon (like I'd fly United again?!?!?!) and there were worse places to be trapped in than SF's Airport. Besides, I'd get out of all the rain and clouds that plagued these mid-western cities. In talking to the guy next to me, I found out that United was having some kind of strike. Crews were working only the hours they were paid for and would walk off. Flights would be cancelled because someone was aware which flight crews had left.
